Sky Planter

The Sky Planter will grow a wide variety of common house plants and vegetables. We encourage you to experiment with your favourite varieties, but these selected plants will thrive in the Sky Planter.

Anthurium Also known as Flamingo Flower, it has shiny dark foliage and a heart-shaped flower in red, white or pink.		Bright light Avoid direct sunlight	Moderate water Let the soil dry out between watering by leaving the reservoir dry, particularly in winter. Requires a high level of humidity so weekly misting is recommended.
Areca Palm Often call the Golden Cane Palm it has feathery green fronds which radiate from several trunks. Identified by NASA as a plant that promotes air purification. Moderate to bright light	Heavy water Maintain a constant water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot. Sensitive to chemicals so use filtered water. Mist occasionally for optimum plant health.
Boston Fern One of the easiest ferns to grow. Has arching long green fronds.		Moderate to bright light Avoid direct sunlight	Moderate to heavy water Maintain a minimum water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot, particularly in winter. Mist frequently.
English Ivy A classic, elegant and easy to care for house plant with small green leaves on vines.		Moderate to bright light Avoid direct sunlight	Moderate to heavy water Maintain a minimum water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot, particularly in the winter months.
Fennel Fennel is a highly aromatic and flavorful herb with wide culinary and medicinal uses		Bright light Position where the plant will reveive 6 or more hours of good sun per day	Moderate to heavy water Keep the soil moist by maintaining a constant water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot.
Geranium Geraniums are one of the most popular indoor flowering plants. They have large bright flowers and scented varieties give off pleasant aromas.		Moderate to bright light For best flowers a sunny location is recommended	Heavy water Likes damp, moist soil, so keep the reservoir topped up for optimal growth.
Hoya Evergreen climbing vines with succulent leaves and clusters of scented flowers. Perfectly suited to the Sky Planter for its elegant foliage. Kentia Palm Feather-like dark green fronds radiate from a small trunk. Kentia Palms grow slowly, but are very hardy.		Moderate to bright light Kentias like full sun but will grow in low light	Moderate water Kentia Palms need steady watering so keep reservoir full with only short dry spells between refills. Sensitive to chemicals so use filtered water.
Mint With its distinct aroma, pleasant flavour, cool sensation and medicinal qualities, mint is among the most versatile herbs.		Bright light Mint, as with most herbs need good direct sunlight	Heavy water Keep the soil moist by maintaining a constant water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot.
Orchid Phalaenopsis is one of the most popular species for its beautiful flowers and elegant foliage. This species of orchid works fantastically in our upside down plant pot.		Bright light Avoid direct sunlight	Very low water Partially fill the reservoir and allow to dry between refills to avoid over-watering and root rot. Use a bark mix to allow air to circulate around the roots
Parsley One of the best known herbs extensively used in cooking and medicine		Bright light Parsley prefers bright light and a sunny position	Moderate to heavy water Keep the soil moist by maintaining a constant water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot.
Peace Lilly Dark green glossy leaves with long white flame-shaped flowers. On NASA’s top air-purification list.		Moderate light Avoid direct sunlight	Heavy water Maintain a constant water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot.
Rubber Plant Thick, shiny oval-shaped leaves, typically a deep green or dark red colour.		Moderate to bright light	Heavy water Maintain a constant water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot.
Strawberry Enjoy fresh summer strawberries directly from your Skyplanter. They grow well indoors and provide fruit rich with vitamins and delicious to eat.		Bright light Strawberries need about 6 hours a day of good sunlight, even more if possible	Moderate water Keep the soil moist by maintaining a constant water level in the reservoir, with occasional dry spells to avoid root rot.
Syngonium Identified by NASA as a plant that promotes air purification. The plant has heart-shaped leaves with silver-white or green centres.		Moderate to bright light Avoid direct sunlight	Moderate water Let the soil dry out between watering by leaving the reservoir dry, particularly in winter. Requires high humidity so mist weekly.
